MW Floats are manufacturers of original hand made commercial fishery pole floats, which have been designed to perform rather than simply look pretty.

We developed most of today's popular patterns that anglers across the country are using day in, day out - which have been copied by large commercial companies, but never to the same standards of finish or strength.
All float bodies for patterns on this site, are turned  IN-HOUSE by Mick Wilkinson himself
MW Floats DO NOT, and will never buy in pre-formed bodies for floats sold on this website unlike some of the other "handmade float manufacturers ".

Two new body materials have become available and following extensive testing, I will be changing patterns over to these where appropriate. We also advise that we change colors without notice.
These materials are head and shoulders above anything on the market previously and are a quantum leap forward for both strength and bouyancy.

UHP - Ultra High Performance is a material which is perfect for patterns where finesse but extra strength is required. This material has approx 3x the strength of normal balsa wood yet is approximately 15% more bouyant than soft grade balsa. First used by MW Floats in 2006!

UTP - Ultra Tough Performance is perfect for carp floats where extreme body strength is required but is 20% more bouyant than the material used previously for these floats. Because of the strength and bouyancy of this material many patterns that previously needed spring eyes can now have traditional side eyes, greatly improving presentation but without any real comprimise in strength.

After studying lots of underwater filming of feeding fish I am convinced that in shallow water (either fishing shallow or in margins) the colour of the topkit and float can sometimes make a difference.

To this end, all patterns will migrate across to greys and heron blue as time goes by

After a period of time, three new patterns have been launched.

Designed for the Cornish master Andy Dare.

This is an all-round pattern with a 1.7mm tip, 0.8mm glass stem and a Rohacell IGF110 body for strength with a traditional side eye.

Strong enough for carp but subtle enough for Cornish silvers bagging.

From 0.2g to 0.6g.

Originally designed for fishing across into the rushes at the wonderful How End fishery where finesse but survivability are the key.

Now being used across at Tunnel Barn Farm and similar snake type fisheries so it has become time to release to the public.

1.6mm hollow hi viz tip.

Rohacell IGF110 body with traditional side eye.

0.6mm Nitanol (flexy) wire.

I have used Nitanol in this pattern so the float will survive going through far bank cover, but more importantly, wont be destroyed in a landing net when fishing shallow depths.

Sizes: 0.05g, 0.1g, 0.2g

Designed for those days when the skim or tow are playing havoc with presentation, the slow tapered body allows the float to be held in postion and allows the use of backshot without pulling it out of position.

2mm hollow Hi Viz tip.

Rohacell IGF110 body with traditional side eye mounted down the body slightly to aid presentation.

0.6mm stainless wire stem.

Sizes: 0.2g, 0.3g, 0.4g, 0.5g, 0.6g, 0.75g, 1.0g

F1 Slims

These have now migrated to grey/blue colour to make them less obvious in the water from underneath.

The sizings have moved to continental rather than the Stot value and an inbetween size has been added.

Sizes: 0.15g (6x11), 0.2g (8x11), 0.25g (10x11), 0.3g (New Size), 0.35g (14x11)

Tight lines!
